China Officinalis
China is placed by Teste in the Ferrum group with Plumb, Carb, an. Puls, Zinc and others which "have the property of remaking the altered blood or increasing for the time being in a healthy person the relative amount of haematin, globulin, fibrin etc. It is useful to remember that Ipecac belongs to the same natural order of plants as China and the relation of the two to intermittent fever, hemorrhages and gasto-enteric disturbances is very similar. The tincture of China is antiseptic, destroying amaeboid motion and retarding tissue change. It weakens the heart and impairs the circulation, produces congestion and hemorrhages, anemia and complete relaxation and collapse. The debility in which China is particularly indicated is such as is caused by an excessive drain of fluids, as great loss of blood, excessive suppuration, loss of semen, also after prolonged strain of overwork, mentally or bodily.
The Typical fever of China is the intermittent, Chill and heat without thirst, thirst occurring either before or after chill. The chill is followed by long-lasting heat, generally with desire to uncover;face fiery red, the appetite is totally lost or else there is canine hunger, the feet swell and as soon as the patient closed his eyes for sleep he sees figures.
Dyspepsia after loss of fluids, Stomach so weak it cannot tolerate any food at all. Very sour stomach. The digestion of china is slow. China is one of the most flatulent of medicines.
Spleen aching sore, liver swollen and sensitive, Gall-stone colic; duodenal catarrh; jaundice. Diarrhea yellow watery undigested diarrhea with much flatus and no pain. Diarrhea of dark inky fluid stools frequent at night. Excessive seminal losses, Menorrhagia; Leucorrhea before periods.
The breathing has important characters;Asthma;wheezing; suffocative catarrh and paralysis of lungs in old people. Respiration labored, load and stertorous with puffing, blowing out cheeks on each expiration.
Pain or inflammation in or around the tooth, often caused by tooth decay or infection (Odontalgia) with starting or drawing pains (in the upper molar teeth)
Dull and distressing pain in carious teeth. Throbbing toothache. The toothache manifests itself after a meal and at night and is mitigated by strong pressure or by closing the teeth, swelling of gums
